When I browsed https://VCSA_IP:5480 -> Backup, & clicked on “Backup Now”, received the error “Invalid vCenter Server Status: All required services are not up! Stopped Services: ‘statsmonitor’ is the IP Address of the FTP Server hosted on Windows Server 2012 R2, where the VCSA Backup would be stored.

Took SSH connection to VCSA & ran the command service-control --status --all to list the status of VCSA services & got below output

vmcam vmware-imagebuilder vmware-mbcs vmware-netdumper vmware-rbd-watchdog vmware-statsmonitor vmware-vcha vsan-dps
applmgmt lwsmd pschealth vmafdd vmcad vmdird vmdnsd vmonapi vmware-analytics vmware-cis-license vmware-cm vmware-content-library vmware-eam vmware-perfcharts vmware-pod vmware-postgres-archiver vmware-rhttpproxy vmware-sca vmware-sps vmware-sts-idmd vmware-stsd vmware-updatemgr vmware-vapi-endpoint vmware-vmon vmware-vpostgres vmware-vpxd vmware-vpxd-svcs vmware-vsan-health vmware-vsm vsphere-client vsphere-ui

This error comes up when vmware-statsmonitor service is not running, however, for Backup to get started, below 3 services should be running (if not, in those instances, the error would show up the service name accordingly)

  • vmware-eam
  • vmware-statsmonitor
  • vmware-analytics

Ran below command to start the service

service-control --start vmware-statsmonitor

Once the service was started, browsed the same location within VAMI Page and was able to initiate Backup this time.
